Hat help I figured I'd ask here since you guys probably have a better eye for design. I'm trying to make a simple floppy-eared dog hat now. Does this hat scream "DOG" to you? Or are there things I should change about the ears? I'm half-tempted to just extend these ears and make a bunny-eared hat design... ( click for pictures ) |

Butterfly wings! So, all the tutorials in the memories are for feathery wings. I know I saw one on how to make your own butterfly wings before. I have the base since I am just gonna rip the fabric off the wire and use that. However, how to attach the fabric, what to use, what to paint it with and all. Halp? |

I'll be off to the hospital in an hour. I will be back later today though. But I have no idea how coherent I will be afterwards. I'll try to remember and post an update. |

Fursuit Facelift my sister is a HUGE cattle dog fan, normally we are very much "why buy, make your own" but when this head went up for sale we had to nab it as she had been gawking at its original form here on DA (see here http://cricket00fur.deviantart.com/art/Scrappy-19543724 )before it was changed by its creator. the mask originally belonged to and was made by CricketFur and she was excited to see what we would do to personalize the mask once we got it. i am now going to offer "fursuit facelifts" as a service on my website, face lifts range from $15-$100 depending on the ammount of work and how much of my materials it requires, this here is about a $40 face lift

update 8/27 Ok! here is some snapshots of the jawset i made. this is my first one. i used the following materials: -2 part epoxy clay (two large tubes of it) - black, pink, brown, white and tan acrylic paint - hotglue and some other various glues for a repair - light pink felt the tounge is felt cut and painted with a mixture of red, white, and brown paints on both sides. it is only glued at the end in the back of the jaw, so it hangs free. then everything besides the tounge gets sprayed with a few coats of crystal clear spray finish to protect the paint job from mositure and gives it a shine like its wet with saliva. I am really proud of it, and it gives Bloodclaw that extra "rawr" he needs to be the leader of the Uk'koho clan. (reference from the book behind him im writing soon) WARNING: image heavy thanks! more to come next week when the body is being foamed. ~Shaggy Griffon |

Oh and on that note, QUIT NAMING HURRICANES AFTER INFAMOUS HISTORICAL TYRANTS!
Then again, if you named a hurricane "Snuggles", it would be a category 9, and would have a comet crash into its eye, followed by ragnarok. |

Fur decisions? Alright, so I'm finally getting started on making my first fursuit, who is supposed to be finished by next April (Preferably before!) I found foam at Wal Mart and all that jazz, all I need is a balaclava and I can start foaming. So I'm now on the hunt for fur! I need colors similar to the left side of the picture under the cut! Shading on white fur I've seen many tutorials (Fatkraken's comes to mind immediately) recommending that you should very lightly put acrylic shading on a head in order to make the bone structure 'pop' more. However... has anyone tried this with white fur? What do you recommend? Everything I've tried has just made the fur look dirty.
I'm actually working on a white plushie right now, but I'll be doing a mostly-white head soon someday. Soo... I might as well ask while I have the time. |

Fox head help I figured it was time I started work on the head for my suit finally. Before it gets too late since Rainfurrest is coming up in exactly a month from now. I was going to get some of the work done with the help of someone else but it wouldn't have been done in time.
After the recent move, I noticed my duct tape dummy head, and the balaclava I made for it, had gone missing. So tonight, with the help of my room mate, we made another tape head but out of clear kind of tape. I guess it'll be just as good. With it, I'm hoping to make a tear-duct, almost feral style head. I'd like to get a working jaw too if I can, if there's time.
I was wondering what kinds of success people have been having with the various building styles out there that would work best with a working jaw, and see through tear-duct eyes.
I've picked up a set of ornamental plastic spheres for eyes. Inside, I'll be gluing black card stock, with an iris painted on it. I've also picked up some plastic mesh to work as a kind of base for the head to help me mount the foam into places before I start carving things out.
I would have done the head first but when I started on this project, I wasn't expecting it to get this far. I was only going to try a set of fox pants back at the start of the year. :)
Anyways, wondering if I'm on the right track here, or if people had some ideas that would work better. Let me know, thanks!

Check-up Tomorrow I start on a clear liquid diet in preparation for a hospital visit on Thursday. It's nothing serious. Just been having some ingestion problems for several years. They are just going to take a look and see what is going on.
I've never had anything done like this before so I'm not too sure what to expect. According to what they say, I'm not suppose to drive afterwards. Luckily I have a room mate to pick me up afterwards and we practically live a few blocks up the road from the place anyways.
Wish me luck. |

You know what rocks? Hot dogs with ketchup, mustard, relish and cream cheese. Hell's yeah.
(just posting something since I haven't said anything in a week...)
In other news, seems FA's down. Man, I'm sure glad they spent a few grands on a few boxes to make sure this sort of crap wouldn't happen again. ^_^; EDIT: Okay, so this time, not the admin's or the hardware's fault. Give credit where it's due! |

Under Construction The alleyway with delusions of being a residential street that we live on is actually being paved this afternoon. I supposed it's a good thing, though it's been well packed gravel for the last several years without any issues.
Of course, now the surface of the pavement is some three inches higher than the old alley. Our parking areas are being ramped, so that isn't a problem -- but I can see this nice new dam having interesting effects on the drainage from the upstream lots. Instead of it all draining across the old flat alley and through our yard, it'll be diverted both into our neighbor's yard where the new pavement feathers into the existing (flat) pavement and into the already above capacity culvert at the end of the alley.
Should be interesting when the rains start up again. |

CollieFox Just finished up a new head for someone, and I'd like some constructive crits for next time. :) I know the muzzle came out a bit lopsided, but I'd like crits on other stuff. Like how well the eyes work, expression, how the fur shaving is, and how closely I followed the concept art. Anything else you can think of will help, too. |

Putting vinyl over a foam nose How do you do it without any seams or without any crinkles and such? It's a normal triangle nose carved outta foam. |

Non-fur-fursuits? I was just wondering if anyone has made fursuits from other things aside from the faux fur, such as velour or crushed velvet, silk or other like things. I found this really nice fabric that isn't faux fur, but it has a nice touch to it and it's soft, plus on sale.
What are some things when dealing with these? I know seams would be a bit hard to hide. |
